Beyoncé named Forbes' most powerful celeb, makes $115m in one year


According to Forbes magazine, Beyonce is the most powerful celebrity in the world right now. The magazine today unveiled its Celebrity 100 and put queen Bey at No.1 ahead of Oprah Winfrey and her husband, Jay Z.

See the top 10 most powerful celebs and how much they earned from June 2013 to June 2014 below..
1. Beyonce: $115million
2. LeBron James - $72million,
3. Dr. Dre - $620million
4.Oprah Winfrey-  $82million
5. Ellen DeGeneres  - $70million
6 .Jay Z - $60million
7. Floyd Mayweather- $105million
8. Rihanna -  $48million
9. Katy Perry- $40million
10. Robert Downey Jnr - $75million.

Out of the 10 most powerful and highest earning celebs of 2014, 7 of them are blacks! Amazing stuff! Justin Bieber fell to 33 in 2014 from number 9 in 2013, while tennis player Roger Federer, director Steven Spielberg and rock band Bon Jovi dropped out of the top 10 in 2014.

DJ Cuppy on a mission: Financial Times luxury summit, Mexico City


Not too long ago Cuppy was officially dressed as a Tourism Ambassador for the Federal Republic's 'Fascinating Nigeria' campaign. In doing her country proud, the 21 year-old DJ attended the Financial Times Luxury Summit 2014 in Mexico to join some of the world's most influential people in discussing the next 15 emerging economies of which Nigeria is one of them.

Rihanna shades BET...lol


This girl is not serious o..lol. Who in the world didn't know that BET Awards was happening this past Sunday? Rihanna, that's who...or at least that's what she wants people to believe. But we see major shade here. Hehe.

So here's what happened. On the night of the awards, one of Rihanna's fans asked her if she was watching the show, and she replied 'it's today'? Yeah right, Rihanna!

She was nominated for 2 BET Awards this year, Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and the FANdemonium Award. She lost both to Beyonce.  

Half of a Yellow Sun now available for online streaming on PanaTV


Finally, the movie everyone has been waiting for is now available for online streaming on panatv.com - for US residents first. UK residents will have to wait till August 4th while the company works feverishly to make it available for streaming in Nigeria despite the ban by the Censor Board.

Abuja hotels to submit list of guests to DSS, police daily


Following recent attacks by Boko Haram men on the nation's capital, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed, yesterday issued a statement directing all hotels in Abuja to henceforth submit the list of guests in their hotels on a daily basis to the FCT Directorate of Department of State Security as well as the FCT Police command.
 
The statement which was signed by the Minister's special assistant, Media, Nosike Ogbuenyi, advised residents of Abuja to embark on operation 'know your neighbor' campaign for early identification of strange faces within their neighborhood.

The statement directed all traditional rulers in the FCT to conduct periodic meetings with all the communities within their domain so that they can take stock of the people in their area and report strange faces, if any, to the Police. Continue...
 
The statement also directed that trucks/ lorries bringing goods into the FCT must now offload their contents during the day and not at night anymore. The Minister in the statement said legal actions would be taken on owners of uncompleted buildings in Abuja whose buildings may have been converted to criminal hideouts.
